THE HOUSE
Blackwell from the Lower Terrace

Blackwell, The Arts & Crafts House is one of Britain's finest and most important houses from the turn of the last century. Designed by MH Baille Scott between 1898 and 1900, it is a superb example of the arts and crafts movement.

Set in the English Lake District and overlooking Lake Windermere, Blackwell has fine examples of decorative arts, furniture and objects. The interiors glow with superb examples of stained glass, carved oak and iron work, and are complemented by changing exhibitions of contemporary and applied arts. With delightful garden terraces, craft shop and Tea Room – it’s a perfect place to visit, come rain or shine!
